I've been dreaming lately what it would be like to live in Seattle, or Portland. Grey skies every day. Layers of neutrals. These rainy spring days here in MN have been my little glimpse of the North West, and I could definitely live like this. The slim turtleneck by Brass gives me the NW feelings. Clothes should make you feel something, a new attitude, a fresh confidence, a sense of nostalgia. Certain outfits, or pieces of mine bring me back to vivid moments and emotions. With a simple, but high quality black turtleneck like this one, I have a feeling that many memories will be made. Plus it's one of those pieces that just scream confidence.
For this particular outfit, I paired the slim turtleneck with maroon slacks and a bold high heel. I wanted a "menswear" look with a feminine touch. The buttery soft material moves with you and creates a beautiful figure, all while looking timeless as ever. The lightweight fabric is ideal for tucking into high waist pants without it getting all bunched up. So this is basically the most perfect turtleneck I've ever owned.
Brass was started because two women were fed up with the fast fashion industry (which, frankly it sickens me as well). They created their brand around the Capsule Wardrobe (20-30 foundational pieces that can be easily mixed and matched), and five product promises (I'm seriously going to use these in every thought process when buying clothes from now on!):
Is the garment beautiful? Is it sophisticated and chic?
Is the garment well-constructed? Does it fit? Is the fabric substantial and will it hold up over multiple washes and wears?
Can the garment be worn to work and on the weekends? Can it be dressed up and down? Can you wear it through multiple seasons?
Is the garment easy to care for? Is it wrinkle resistant? Does it travel well?
Does the garment serve a purpose in my life? Is it timeless and will it continue to serve a purpose?
It's time to purge your closet and give something better a chance. Brass.
